Scallop

Sculpture by Maggi Hambling
Aldeburgh, Suffolk

This sculpture, in stainless steel, sits at the north end of Adleburgh beach and is a tribute to Benjamin Britten.

The words within it, “I hear those voices that will not be drowned”, are taken from the libretto by Montagu Slater to Britten’s opera Peter Grimes.
